The amount of frustration I have on how to price things is huge.
When I started making stuff, I would just toss out numbers. “I don’t know $20” being my favorite. Which in all honesty doesn’t even pay for materials. The community I am part of started talking about how we are all bad we are at pricing our pieces.
Then someone brought up the YouTube video, I say the video because it was an elderly couple in the glass community who did an amazing video on how to bill. They had an eBook you could buy with the spreadsheet.
I can tell you my broke butt ran to find it, because spreadsheet. You mean I can enter the data and it will do all the work for me. HECK yes. Imagine my disappointment, when I opened up the spreadsheet and there was no calculations?
I looked at what they had listed and that was cool but no math, and no explanation of how to get the math. I have been working part time for a friend of mine, I found in the first week I needed Office, so I have a subscription for that now so I could do my job.
Since I started paying for it I am going to use it. I took the form apart. Looking up and making it work so that I wouldn’t have to. I would love to say it took me a few hours and it was perfect. That would be a lie. IT took me about a week… or 2. In the end though. OMG I time each part of the process, and how much materials I used, and it does the math.
On top of doing the math it adds Business % and Taxes. So I can just add in the numbers and the payment amount is THE amount. including tax for the items. I also added a page that takes the glass, how big was it when you bought it, that equals this many square inches. It takes the sq in and gives you a price per sq in. Then you enter how much you USED and it gives you the price for that many square inches. Here you do have to add up the price and enter it on page 1.
Maybe on Version 2 I will fix it.
Till then if you want it HERE is version 1.
